30th November 2011. The Pensions March in Preston was a huge success with over 1500 people taking part from all trades within the public sector. Photographs from the Preston event can be seen on this Flickr page.
22nd November 2011. The March for Pensions will take place on 30th November 2011 as unions across the region take industrial action to fight to protect workers contractual rights. The march will begin on Avenham Park at 11am and will end at the Flag Market where speakers can be heard from 12:00. We encourage everyone to join in whether you are affected by the pensions hike personally or whether you just value the services which public servants provide. Please use this flyer to raise awareness of the event.
28th October 2011. A North West TUC Disability Forum Event takes place on Saturday 3rd December 2011 at the Mechanics Institute in Manchester from 1-5pm. The forum aims to promote action on issues of concern for disabled trade union members. This event aims to address the effect of reducing public expenditure and public service reform for disabled people. To book a place email Kara Stevens or call 0151 236 5432 to discuss.
17th October 2011. Support BAe workers by signing the e-petition. Over 15,000 have signed the signature to keep these manufacturing jobs in the Uk.
9th July 2011. Workers at Risk from Governments Attack on Health & Safety. Meeting arranged for Tuesday 12th July, 6:30 pm at Friends Meetign House, Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS. Speakers from Trade Unions and Families Against Corporate Killers. Full details available on this leaflet.
3rd July 2011. Over 400 people attended the public rally held to voice opposition to government plans to slash pensions for public sector workers. Members from ATL, NUT, PCS & UCU turned out in their hundreds after hundreds of schools and government offices were brought to a standstill through support of striking members.Photos of the event and picket lines can be seen on Flickr.
3rd June 2011. A public rally has been arranged to coincide with Unions taking Industrial Action against the cuts. The action is planned to take place on 30th June 2011 and a rally will be held between 12 & 1pm in Preston Town Centre on the Flag Market. Please come along and show your support.A poster is available to ask all workers to support this action against the cuts.

7th May . Preston Against Cuts Fund raising event planned for Saturday 21st May 13:00 to 17:00 Meadow Street Labour Club, 193-195 North Road PR1 1YQ. Music & Live Bands. Free Entry. All welcome.
UPDATE: This event has been cancelled to be rescheduled for a later date.

3rd May. Next Preston & South Ribble Trades Union Council Meeting:
Wednesday 18th May 2011 at Preston CVS Offices, Guild Arcade, 7:00pm. NB. Future meetings are planned to take place regularly from 7pm.
Preston Workers’ Memorial Day 2011.
The event takes place on Saturday 30th April on Preston Flag Market starting with a torch led procession at 11:45. Full details available on the Preston WMD Page.

13th March 2011. New Cuts Watch Figures published.
9th March 2011. Lancashire Coalition Against Cuts meeting planned. Saturday 2nd April. 1:30 – 3:30 @ 53 Degrees. Brook Street, Preston PR1 7BQ. Speakers already agreed include John McDonnell (Labour MP for Hayes & Harlington) and Alice Mahon (Former MP for Halifax & Trade Union Activist) and local Labour Councillors. Other invited speakers yet to be confirmed include: Ian Hodson (BFAWU), Mark Serwotka (PCS), Jeremy Dear (NUJ), Billy Hayes (CWU). Definitive list to be published shortly. All members of the public and other Lancashire Anti-Cuts Groups & activists are invited to attend.

8th February 2011 . The Preston Against Cuts March has been agreed with Lancashire Constabulary and will take place on Saturday 12th February.

Meet Preston Flag Market 12:00. Bring all of your family and tell all of your friends. This is your chance to tell Preston City Council and local media how you feel about the cuts which will have a devastating impact on local services.
